Evin Prison Inmates Announce Solidarity with "No to Executions" Campaign and Condemn Repression
Amid harsh conditions and systematic repression, the bravery of political prisoners in Evin Prison stands as a symbol of resistance and defiance, as they declare their solidarity with the victims of execution and continue the struggle for freedom.
In a bold and powerful statement, a group of political prisoners in Iran's Evin Prison announced on Tuesday, July 30, their support for the "No to Executions Tuesdays" campaign, emphasizing the growing "flame of rebellion and revolution" among the people who suffer from censorship, repression, and systematic executions. The statement noted that the regime is trying to hinder this rebellion by imprisoning women who have freed themselves from bourgeois and reactionary ideas.
The statement added that these prisoners, participating in the 27th campaign of "No to Executions Tuesdays," learned of the death sentence issued against their fellow inmate, Bakhshan Azizi, as well as the condemnation and death threats against two other inmates, Nasim Gholami and Resha Moradi. The statement described this news as shocking to every free person.
The statement affirmed that the struggle and resistance shown by these women have struck a harsh blow against reactionary regression. It highlighted that the regime, driven by weakness, takes severe and inhumane measures against political prisoners, especially female prisoners, to prevent the development of the protest movement.
The statement also noted that the political prisoners are uniting their cries with those of other inmates in the "No to Executions Tuesdays" campaigns, calling on the world to hear their voices and those of all prisoners who are being led to the slaughter every day.
On the same day, the political prisoners on hunger strike issued a statement about the 27th week of their strike, condemning the inhumane actions taken by the regime to intimidate the public and confront resistant prisoners. They pointed to the execution of dozens of political prisoners, prisoners of conscience, and ordinary prisoners in jails across the country.
The statement underscored that the "No to Executions Tuesdays" campaign has spread to 17 prisons nationwide, expressing hope that a day will come when the "sun of liberation and freedom" will rise to erase all darkness and evil.
